We have a very sad and terrified adult cat (probably female) we suspect has either been lost or abandoned, does anyone recognize this cat?
If we cannot find an owner we will have to bring her in for adoption as clearly she will not last the winter and her coat will matt causing pain and infection.
Any help appreciated
October 2017: Fluffy has settled in well here, a gentle loving lady, we are sure she will find a loving home once she is at Woodland Nook
As usual this time of year people seem to think its acceptable to rip kittens away still feeding from Mummy too abandon them in the nearest bin. This little one is approximately 4 weeks of age, Twizzle is female (her ginger and white brother was adopted 27/5/17) pining on her own she went to her foster mummy Heather. Twizzle is very confident and vocal, healthy & playing with no signs of cat flu or any infections so far, as usual she will be vaccinated and neutered.
This other poor little soul was picked up off the street next to the bins eyes glued shut by pus.
She has pneumonia and maybe blind in her right eye, very frail but responding well to the antibiotics a delightful kitten. When she is infection free and back to health we will need a loving home for her. These little ones need adopters to come forward anywhere in Europe, donations towards their care would be appreciated.
Two more abandoned in the cemetery, baking in the sun…
We had the most adorable kittens and Mother at the clinic at the start of May, kittens approx 4 weeks of age fit and healthy very bonded with humans. We desperately need a home for them the carer can only keep the mother.
We can assist with vaccination and neutering someone must be able to give these little ones a loving home.
Following on from the successful neutering clinics set up in Rethymnon, Apokoronas (AVC) and in the east of Crete, Chania now has a neutering clinic in Nerokouros, well done to everyone involved
Hi everyone these pictures are difficult to look at but people need to see what we do and why we do it. Simple cat flu turns into bacterial infection it destroys the eyes they go blind.
This gentle loving female heavily pregnant was left on the streets slowly losing her eyes for the want of a vet visit and simple eye drops.
By the time she was rescued she was blind her ears scorched and scarred by the sun. Euthanasia was discussed but such a gentle creature who would do well in a safe environment once healed deserved a chance, sadly her kittens did not make it.
Very affectionate she will take another month to recover and needs to gain the confidence to explore her surroundings and use her whiskers and other senses. We need to raise the funds for her after-care and find a loving, safe home obviously indoors.
If you cannot adopt please donate towards giving her a new life.
The Apokoronas cats send big purrsss & many thanks to our Chania colleagues in particular Elizabeth of the The Souda Shelter Project for the unexpected & fantastic 120 kg of donated cat food! We mix the Dreamies with the food given out also using as treats for the sick ones.
