We had the most adorable kittens and Mother at the clinic at the start of May, kittens approx 4 weeks of age fit and healthy very bonded with humans. We desperately need a home for them the carer can only keep the mother.
We can assist with vaccination and neutering someone must be able to give these little ones a loving home.
Following on from the successful neutering clinics set up in Rethymnon, Apokoronas (AVC) and in the east of Crete, Chania now has a neutering clinic in Nerokouros, well done to everyone involved
Hi everyone these pictures are difficult to look at but people need to see what we do and why we do it. Simple cat flu turns into bacterial infection it destroys the eyes they go blind.
This gentle loving female heavily pregnant was left on the streets slowly losing her eyes for the want of a vet visit and simple eye drops.
By the time she was rescued she was blind her ears scorched and scarred by the sun. Euthanasia was discussed but such a gentle creature who would do well in a safe environment once healed deserved a chance, sadly her kittens did not make it.
Very affectionate she will take another month to recover and needs to gain the confidence to explore her surroundings and use her whiskers and other senses. We need to raise the funds for her after-care and find a loving, safe home obviously indoors.
If you cannot adopt please donate towards giving her a new life.
The Apokoronas cats send big purrsss & many thanks to our Chania colleagues in particular Elizabeth of the The Souda Shelter Project for the unexpected & fantastic 120 kg of donated cat food! We mix the Dreamies with the food given out also using as treats for the sick ones.
We still have these gorgeous kittens from last years rescue now about 5 months of age who need a home, can anyone give them the stability and love they need.
Abandoned on a roadside emaciated, pneumonia from cat flu anaemic from parasites they where 12 weeks of age. Rosie is a dainty lap cat all she wants is constant affection and cuddles she cradles into you and purrs a gentle little creature. Her right eye had a corneal ulcer now healed the eye infection scarred her pupil but she can see fine & can be an outdoor cat. Her coat is a glorious tortoiseshell colour, soft and shiny now. Rupert More affected than his sister he took a while to trust humans now talks and purrs he loves cuddles but is shy. Beautiful tabby markings with long legs he may be a big boy when fully grown.
All our kittens are treated for infections/illness, vaccinated, neutered, and can have passports. If you can adopt from anywhere in Europe please contact us.
There are two sides to every Christmas story, there is Mira and her adoption paid for by generous and loving tourists, and there are our local Cretans who love their cats but do not always have the resources, funds and knowledge to care for them.
We hope this illustrates the reality of what we do and neither detracts from the other
