Community feedback

Christiana wrote I want to take a moment to publicly say a huge THANK YOU to The Cats Pyjamas Rescue in Apokoronas ❤️
A few days ago, I found a stray cat in a heartbreaking condition — weak, suffering, unable to eat, and completely alone. I did what I could, but it quickly became clear that she needed much more than I could offer.
And then Cats Pyjamas stepped in.
Without hesitation, they took her in and gave her a real chance to survive. What they do is not just “helping animals” — they are saving lives, every single day.
What makes this even more meaningful is that they are not even from here, yet they choose to stand by our community and care for the animals of this place as if it were their own. They are making a real, tangible difference in our area, and that deserves recognition and respect.
In a world where it’s easy to look away, they choose to care.
🙏 Thank you for your compassion, your dedication, and for giving this little soul a second chance.
If anyone is looking for a cause worth supporting — this is it.

Heather replied Yes, my daughter got two kittens rescued by Cat’s Pyjamas and took them back to uk. One is still with her but sadly the other one died in a road accident. CP’s helped me more than once with the stray colony I used to feed.

Philippa replied ABSOLUTELY!!! They are amazing. My daughter Letty Butler and I first discovered The Cats Pyjamas Rescue in 2011 when they rescued the beloved black cat who became our adored distinguished gentleman friend, Catty. He was only 11 when he was hit by a car outside my house in 2022 and we still mourn his loss. When we returned to Crete in 2023 we met little Luna through The Cats Pyjamas Rescue and she arrived in the UK later that year along with her now best friend and soul sister Minnie. We will continue to support you dear TCPR and have huge respect for all you do for the cats and dogs in Crete, and for the neutering programmes and animal welfare education you are helping to fund.

Living Together with the Animals

The Federation (Pan-Hellenic Animal Welfare and Environmental Federation), in its effort to enforce the animal loving idea to the new children, in cooperation with the Municipality of Apokoronas has already started at the schools of the Municipality the presentation of the educational program “Living together with the Animals Around Me”, that Ms Melita Lazaratou created.

Almost all teachers responded  to the invitation of the Municipality and our Federation and the young pupils surprised us pleasantly with their knowledge and questions concerning animals.

Our program is presented in the schools of Chania and Crete as well as the rest of Greece since 2008 and has contributed a lot to the change of our attitude as concerns animals. animals.

Mrs Aggeliki Bartsioka, member of the BOD of our Federation and President of the Animal Welfare Association of Lamia is presenting the program.

The Municipality of Apokoronas covered the air tickets expenses of Mrs Bartsioka and Mr. Venetaki’s Pet Shop other expenses of the program.
