We make no apologies for the distressing images this is the new reality for Apokoronas strays cats blind, deaf, dying. This is a direct result of Arche Noah being prevented from their legal and legitimate right to neuter, our Charity and volunteers being denied access to the Tsivaras Clinic.
Dedicated to cats we have risked family, friends now it seems our personal freedoms, reputations and our home are on the line and we can do no more. Apokoronas this is your neutering programme being decimated by politics and self-interest. You funded the tiles on the clinic floors. You donated to us the means to design and make the surgical operating tables. You donate the funds to us for the equipment and items required to neuter safely and care for our strays correctly afterwards. One of the best neutering programmes on the island is being destroyed, join those demonstrating their disgust, let the Mayor know you need his continued support. Make a difference if not for us for these little ones coming in to us for nursing left blinded by man’s inhumanity and greed
A huge thank you to everyone involved in the neutering sessions! So many gave their time & hard work to make this work. Special thanks go to Bev & Sarah, Melanie & Sue, Kathie & her cook team for the amazing food, Tassos for all his hard work at the clinic. Goes without saying we could not do any of this without Arche Noah & the support of the Dimos.
Between 10 and 11 January a two days neutering session of 26 stray animals of the Municipality of Chania was successfully completed by the vet Melanie Stehle member of the association Arche Noah Kreta e.V. : 19 female and 2 male stray cats and 5 female stray dogs from various areas of Chania, where it is a fact that the problem is intense because of the continuous abandonment and uncontrolled breeding, in particular from the areas of Agia, Perivolia, Pasakaki, Nerokourou, Chrisopigi, Akrotiri, Kounoupidiana and from the center of the city.
The Municipality of Apokoronas obeys faithfully the legislative ordinances of stray animals’ well-being and protection, as piece of our culture’s evidence. After my assumption of duties regarding the handling of stray animals, in partnership with the Mayor Mr. Har. Koukianakis, we set in motion the below actions:
Animal Welfare in Apokoronas is under attack from internal and external forces if you care for the health and well-being of our strays you need to help by signing the petitions, forwarding it to everyone you can and supporting our neutering programme against those who would malign our work.
