Shelby

On Monday (15th) morning this tiny bin cat was found collapsed in the middle of the road. He was in a really bad way and after a speed breaking run to the vet, the worst was confirmed. He was infested with worms, fleas and maggots. Bleeding from the mouth, emaciated, swollen infected eyes, severely dehydrated, in liver failure and suffering from hypothermia.

Shelby kitten thanks everyone for their good wishes, blessings & donations

Estimated to be about 12 weeks of age we felt he deserved a chance at life. Would he make it through the night?? He did!!!!! Today he ate a small amount of food but he is still seriously ill. The chances of recovery are low and the costs high but he is fighting to live.

Shelby when he first arrived at the vets

Tuesday (23rd): Today Shelby came back to be nursed, his drip is out but he still needs hand feeding which with his teeth is a challenge! A month or more of antibiotics, he has a large draining abscess on his forehead and were not sure if he is brain damaged or just traumatized.

Thursday: ….. back to the vets this morning. Shelby is not eating, drinking or urinating and has fluids coming out of his nose. Will let you know what the vet says.

He is now back on a drip & this morning much better for it! He is eating himself for the first time

We have an appeal for Shelby kitten who needs a loving home.

Very appropriate for Easter, this little chap has been the most exhausting and challenging case we have ever nursed.

Collapsed on the street suffering from end stages of feline parvovirus none of us including the vet expected him to live, at first he was confused and untouchable bit everyone to the bone. Keeping a drip in and giving medication for 2 weeks was interesting, 3 months later he is unrecognizable.

He has fully recovered, all blood tests are now normal tested for FIV/FeLV all negative. He snuffles from scarring of his sinuses (he had an abscess) nothing to be done it causes him no problems with breathing, no infections now present.

He is long haired it is growing back with beige tabby markings, unique eyes one is yellow tinted other caramel color he is stunning.

Shelby is with foster parents learning house rules with humans and how to behave. He is very needy wanting company and affection he adores cuddles and hugs but he mischievous needs a firm hand and someone familiar with cats. Were teaching him he does not have to raid the fridge and lick the dishwasher plates in the dishwasher he will get fed!

Fully vaccinated/neutered/micro chipped he is ready to go to a permanent home if anyone can give this adorable cat some respite after all he has been through please contact us.
