Tilly

Tilly’s rescue has been traumatic for all involved you may find some of the photos distressing.

Tilly

Her blind mother had been having a succession of kittens catching chlamydia off her only to either die or survive blind themselves. The mother cat lived in Chania out of a litter of 5 only two kittens remained one of which was taken into our vet Eleni

A male tabby (@11 weeks of age) already blind he died fitting the afternoon we brought him home probably meningitis from the eye infections. At this point we persuaded the gentleman feeding the mother that this cycle had to end she needed urgent neutering. The mother has now been neutered cared for afterwards by the person feeding her & returned to her street, our vet kindly sharing the cost of neutering.

Following week the remaining sibling was caught, already lost one eye to infection the other remained just beginning to succumb to infection. We took her for nursing we did not expect her to live but she was stronger than her brother, fluids, antibiotics treating all the infections & then parasite treatments she is now thriving!

Tilly requires an operation to remove the left eye when she has grown in about another month, all her infections have gone we have started her vaccinations she will also be neutered. Such a special little one she is courageous, clever running all over the place playing trying to catch flies her right eye seems to have normal vision.

Tilly adores human cuddles an adorable kitten she can go to a new home now under supervision here or after her operation.

If you can give this amazing little creature a home here or in Europe please contact us.

Viviann

Viviann arrived emaciated in the garden of one of our dedicated volunteers, too weak to move she was brought in to us.

We gave her fluids a bath, warmth & food, covered in parasites so bad her fur was missing she is bald in many places.
We tested her for FIV/FeLV which thankfully was negative she needed parasite & eye infections treated is now gaining weight.
Testing her liver & kidneys are functioning is her next hurdle.

Vivian is older than she looks approximately 1 year she has had kittens in the past.
Affectionate & vocal this is not a feral cat she must have been owned by someone, we can only imagine she was abandoned unable to fend for herself to end up in this horrifying condition.
Viviann will be with us for some time treating the malnutrition.

The goal is to get her well then re home this gorgeous girl either here or send her to the UK in the care of Woodland Nook Cat Rescue.
Donations for her veterinary bills & care would be appreciated.

Milo

Update 3rd April 2015:

Sadly Milo (as he turned out to be) was not putting on weight or playing, he was too short of breath, so today we did an xray and this showed his lungs where full of fluid, he was drowning of wet FIP, we did not bring him round from the anaesthetic and he peacefully slipped away.
The only consulation is that he did not starve to death by the roadside but was warm, fed and loved by his foster mum and us.

Millicent needs your help, another kitten we suspect a victim of being taken in during the summer fed & humanised only to be abandoned.

If anyone doubts that all cats can fend for themselves see the picture of when she was picked up sitting in the middle of the road dazed so weak she was unable to move weighing only a kg.

Millicent was dehydrated/emaciated & had pneumonia, fur missing from parasites all of which is normal for almost every cat we rescue but otherwise in good health. The pneumonia responded very well to the antibiotics, the bald patches of skin so sore she has been bathed thankfully for us she loves her baths!

Update on Vamos rescue

Arche Noah Kreta have taken her to Germany for specialist care, we heard today she has a ruptured diaphragm and is awaiting the operation to repair.  The cost is approximately €800 for which we must give thanks to Arche Noah for funding.

This kitten was found on Thursday (16/10/14) staggering in the road by Vamos Post Office

We would like to donate towards the cost, if you can help please use the donate button and make a reference to Vamos rescue, we will ensure the donations reach Arche Noah.

Urgent appeal kitten adoption

It is with great relief we are happy to announce that the little black kitten has been adopted

We have a little one about 6 weeks old tiny more like 4 weeks of age his litter lost mummy at a few weeks of age thrown out in the middle of nowhere left to fend for themselves.

Much to the distress of the lady feeding them, 3 of his siblings disappeared & he was found one morning alone hiding in the wall we presume they were taken during the night by some predator.
