Penelope (@1½ years old) was very lucky to be found by the roadside after having been hit by a car, she suffered serious fractures to her pelvis & fractured her left hind leg.
Brought into the last neuter session she has been with us on cage rest for 5 weeks, now standing/sitting her coat is a gorgeous colour she has the most amazing eye make up! Looking really well obviously feeling better as she tries to get out!
Penny needs another month of cage rest no jumping to allow the fractures to heal then we shall do another X-Ray to check all is well. When her pelvis is healed we can neuter her & begin vaccinations.
Timid, shy and demure she is a little lady who enjoys cuddles now talking to us she is tame needing a quiet loving home.
We need a caring gentle adopter any donations towards her care & travel would be welcome.

Many people are asking about Ragnar & his progress this lucky boy is going to Hanover! His wonderful adopters have a ready made harem two girls both of which suffered abuse and lost a leg. The adopters are comfortable with disabled cats and have an enclosed garden where he will be safe. He can stand, the wound has healed he uses his litter trays but it will be sometime before he regains full use of his remaining back leg. The lazy boy has worked out he can run faster by using his powerful front legs on the tiles to get along!
5th April 2015 Ragnar was found by colleagues in the streets of Chania dragging his back legs along the road. Partially paralysed on the right side worse on the left X-Rays showed the lower lumbar spine had been slightly compressed from a blow to the spine. Everyone agreed we had to give this handsome boy a chance we were asked to nurse him, 6 weeks of cage rest no jumping, anti inflammatory medication, physio and heat.
Gradually his tail moved, he regained control of his bladder/bowel using his litter trays. The right leg improved he was standing & walking but the left leg remained paralysed with muscle wasting, stiffness his paw bent backwards hindering movement tripping him up.
Another 2 weeks later we had to make the difficult decision do we euthanize him as clearly he would never walk normally. Ragnar obviously longed to be back outside which would not be safe for him now he would not be able to run free as he did before. The alternative was to amputate the useless limb hoping his left back leg would continue to improve taking his full weight allowing him to have a good quality of life all be it restricted to indoors or outside pens.The risk would be putting him through such traumatic surgery only to have to euthanize him if his remaining leg did not take his weight. This week we went ahead amputated his left leg, neutered & micro chipped him ready for his passport. To our delight & relief he is coping much better his walking & standing is stable the wound is healing well. It will take many months for him to recover fully but we are now confident enough he will do well to ask for an adopter who can give him a safe secure home.
Ragnar needs to be an indoor cat with access to watching the outside world a pen outside would be kinder for him. He is a typical Greek boy with the most gorgeous green eyes, wants his own way, talks all the time, likes head rubs but not really a lap cat, he eats everything he owns you! He does seem to be very sociable interested in other cats he likes his girls but he would need to be the dominant male. Viviann arrived emaciated in the garden of one of our dedicated volunteers, too weak to move she was brought in to us.
We gave her fluids a bath, warmth & food, covered in parasites so bad her fur was missing she is bald in many places. We tested her for FIV/FeLV which thankfully was negative she needed parasite & eye infections treated is now gaining weight. Testing her liver & kidneys are functioning is her next hurdle.
Vivian is older than she looks approximately 1 year she has had kittens in the past. Affectionate & vocal this is not a feral cat she must have been owned by someone, we can only imagine she was abandoned unable to fend for herself to end up in this horrifying condition. Viviann will be with us for some time treating the malnutrition.
The goal is to get her well then re home this gorgeous girl either here or send her to the UK in the care of Woodland Nook Cat Rescue. Donations for her veterinary bills & care would be appreciated.
Loki needs a special Mum & Dad he is blinded in the right eye limited vision in the left. He was found crying on the side of the road in Kalyves (Crete) roasting in the midday sun his eyelids stuck together by pus. He had pneumonia, eye ulcerations, parasite overload, dehydration & was starved sadly his rescuer saw half a dozen people walk by him.
This is an appeal on behalf of Lazarus (Larry) approximately 2 years of age rescued off the streets of Chania. Larry had extensive lacerations across his nose/sinuses, fractured jaw, left eye blind (detached optic nerve) all wounds contaminated with maggot infestation.
Sadly Milo (as he turned out to be) was not putting on weight or playing, he was too short of breath, so today we did an xray and this showed his lungs where full of fluid, he was drowning of wet FIP, we did not bring him round from the anaesthetic and he peacefully slipped away. The only consulation is that he did not starve to death by the roadside but was warm, fed and loved by his foster mum and us.
Millicent needs your help, another kitten we suspect a victim of being taken in during the summer fed & humanised only to be abandoned.
If anyone doubts that all cats can fend for themselves see the picture of when she was picked up sitting in the middle of the road dazed so weak she was unable to move weighing only a kg.
Millicent was dehydrated/emaciated & had pneumonia, fur missing from parasites all of which is normal for almost every cat we rescue but otherwise in good health. The pneumonia responded very well to the antibiotics, the bald patches of skin so sore she has been bathed thankfully for us she loves her baths!
